An explosion has killed three Palestinian brothers on the outskirts of Gaza City at the home of a fourth brother who is wanted by Israel.

The wanted man was not in the house at the time of the explosion. Among the dead was Hani al-Sharif, a member of the militant group Islamic Jihad. Four other family members were hurt in the blast.

Palestinian police were investigating the cause of the blast. The Israeli army did not immediately comment.

Israel has launched missile strikes and planted booby traps to kill Palestinians behind attacks in the two-year-old uprising against Israeli occupation, but there have also been cases where militants have blown themselves up while making bombs.
