Tinkling of everything

The music season is off to a roaring start

The music season is off to a roaring start. Attendees at a lunch to announce the National Concert Hall's 2001/2002 season include Finghin Collins, pianist, polyglot and prize-winner, who is the youngest member of the newly appointed National Concert Hall board.

Lindsay Armstrong, manager of the Orchestra of St Cecilia, says the company will play the Schubert Symphonies at the National Concert Hall on November 7th, 14th and 21st with Collins on piano.

Watch out for fireworks and arias later this year when Wexford Festival Opera celebrates 50 years in existence. Not wanting to give anything away, however, its chief executive Jerome Hynes, who is another newly-appointed NCH board member, remains quiet about plans that may be in the pipeline.

Details of the anniversary events will be launched at the end of this month.
