America's reigning Horse of the Year and Breeders' Cup Classic winner Tiznow faces an uncertain future after suffering an injury in a work-out at Santa Anita last week.
It has since been found that Tiznow is lame in his left foreleg after working six furlongs in one minute 13 seconds. The worrying thing for trainer Jay Robbins is that the colt fractured a bone in the same leg as a two-year-old.
Explaining that a nuclear scan had been performed on Tiznow, who has won two of his three starts this year, Robbins said: "I'm hoping that it may be nothing more than a pulled muscle as he's pretty comfortable on the leg, certainly more comfortable than he was."
Regardless of this optimism, Tiznow will bypass the Pimlico Special on May 12. -PA-
