Mr Horgan (22), of Tara, Bellewstown, Co Meath, has been capped five times for Ireland.

Mr Breffny Gordon, defending, said Mr Horgan, who was pleading not guilty, was waiving his right to the case being heard in the District Court and was instead opting for trial by judge and jury in the Circuit Criminal Court.
