The topsy-turvy weather of the last few weeks looks set to continue this weekend, with Met Éireann predicting more unsettled conditions.

The forecaster said tomorrow would dry and cloudy in most places, although southern areas may experience some sunshine.

Patches of light rain or drizzle are also expected in northern counties. Highest temperatures will range between 10 to 13 degrees, which is normal for this time of year.

Similarly, Easter Sunday would also be dry for much of the day, with sunny spells in eastern areas during the morning.

Monday, however, will be distinctly cooler and windier, with widespread rain in the morning giving way to brighter but showery conditions in the afternoon. Top temperatures will range between 8 to 10 degrees.

Unsettled and cool, breezy weather is expected for the following few days, Met Éireann said in its outlook for next week.

There's a host entertaining events on offer around the country this weekend should one wish to venture out, from street parties to parades and hot air balloon fiestas.

The Mad Hatter’s Street Party takes place in the Phoenix Park from 12pm until 4pm tomorrow.

The family-friendly event, which marks the 350th anniversary of the park, will feature characters from Alice in Wonderland, a farmers’ market and several music events.

Meanwhile, it will be up up and wayhay over the skies of Meath tomorrow and Sunday as the Trim Hot Air Balloon Fiesta gets off the ground in the town’s historic castle.

It promises to be one of the most colourful and exhilarating events taking place this bank holiday weekend with enormous balloons shaped like Sonic the Hedgehog, Darth Vader and the Easter Bunny (obviously) taking to the sky alongside more traditionally shaped hot air balloons.

There will also be paragliding displays, skydiving and kite-flying to draw the eye heavenward.

Elsewhere, the Longford Ploughing Championship takes place in Ballymahon on Sunday from midday. An Easter Rising commemoration event will also take place on Sunday outside the GPO on O’Connell St in Dublin.

Naas in Co Kildare will play host to its annual Easter Sunday parade from 2.45pm. The event is one of Kildare’s biggest annual attractions, drawing thousands of spectators and participants alike.

The annual sunrise religious services on Easter Sunday will also take place at various venues across the country.
