Sam Torrance has been named the European Tour's Asprey Golfer of the Month for September for his Ryder Cup victory at The Belfry.
Asprey will also recognise Europe's win by presenting each member of Torrance's team, including vice-captain Ian Woosnam and backroom staff Joakim Haeggman and Mark James, with a specially engraved dish.
Torrance followed in the footsteps of recent European winning captains Tony Jacklin, Bernard Gallacher and Seve Ballesteros when Europe regained the cup against the United States.
Torrance, who earns £1,000 for the Golf Foundation through the award, said: "I'm delighted to accept on behalf of each and every member of the team. The atmosphere in the team room was terrific throughout the entire week and we've all been on a high since winning the cup back".
Torrance was judged the winner by a panel from the Association of Golf Writers and television personnel who met with representatives of Asprey and the European Tour to discuss the month's action.
Other winners of the Asprey Golfer of the Month Awards this year have been; Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell (August) for winning the Scandinavian Masters, Justin Rose (January and May), Jose Maria Olazabal (February), Ernie Els (March and July), Retief Goosen (April), and Miles Tunnicliff (June).
