London - A former Tory cabinet minister, Mr Jonathan Aitken (55), has been charged with perjury, conspiracy to pervert the course of justice and perverting the course of justice, Scotland Yard said last night. Mr Aitken, who lives in central London, has been bailed to appear before Bow Street Magistrates Court on July 6th.

Police said a second man, Mr Said Ayas (56), had also been charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice and perverting the course of justice. Mr Ayas, of central London, has also been bailed to appear before Bow Street Magistrates Court on the same day.
