Trad bands to feature on new stamps

Traditional Irish bands such as Planxty and De Dannan will be celebrated in stamps issued later this year.

It is the second phase of a series of stamps that mark important aspects of Ireland's musical tradition.

The Tulla Ceili Band and The Bothy Band will also be featured. Illustrated by artist Finbarr O'Connor, the stamps will be issued on October 10.

The centenary of the 1908 Old Age Pension Act will also be remembered in another series of stamps in September.

Classical composers Handel and Chopin will also be celebrated.
