Dublin's 146 traffic wardens are to picket Leinster House today to highlight their continuing opposition to a proposed transfer of their employment to Dublin Corporation. They are now employed by the Department of Justice.

During the picket, from 1.30 p.m. until 2.30 p.m., motorists may elude parking tickets, but clampers will still be operating. According to the corporation, clamping has made the traffic wardens largely redundant. It has told them only 31 will be needed and the rest will be re-deployed.
