An illegal encampment of Travellers at the loading bays and staff car park of a Co Cavan woodcraft firm over the weekend cost the company £10,000 in lost production, a spokesman claimed.

A group of 40 Travellers parked trailers, vans and caravans at the Fine Irish Pine factory in Ballyjamesduff on Sunday evening. Gardai were called and the Travellers moved off the premises around noon yesterday.

Yesterday morning, employees arriving for work had to park on the narrow road, causing severe traffic problems. Inside the factory, lorries could not get to loading bays, which caused disruption in production.
