The publishing company that owns the Derry Journaland the Belfast Newsletteris to sell off both titles, according to reports in the Financial Timesthis morning.

The Trinity Mirror newspaper group, which also publishes the Daily Mirror, said it is to undergo a radical restructuring that is likely to result in the loss of hundreds of jobs across Britain and Northern Ireland.

However, only regional titles are expected to be affected, with the company's new chief executive, Mr Sly Bailey, ruling out the sale of any of its major titles.

The restructuring is expected to save the company another £10 million sterling, in addition to a £32 million cost-reducing exercise implemented at the start of this year.

Last month, the company said it expected no growth in first-half advertising revenues and warned of a drop in circulation revenue.

As a result, it is believed that the publisher also considering streamlining circulation and distribution.
