London - A mother who had triplets after IVF treatment when she was prepared only for twins yesterday accepted a £20,000 compensation offer from the fertility clinic where she had the treatment.
Ms Patricia Thompson (34) successfully sued Sheffield Fertility Clinic for breach of contract, saying a doctor had implanted three embryos when she had only consented to two.
But just days before a judge was due to announce the level of damages he was awarding for the loss of earnings she claimed for having the extra child, she accepted the money in an out-of-court settlement.
