LABOUR MEP Bernie Malone flew home to Dublin this week with altitude sickness from China and Tibet, hoping to attend the premiere of Michael Collins. She had been on a delegation with two colleagues from the European Parliament, a Spaniard and an Italian, interceding with the Chinese on behalf of the Dalai Lama. They got two concessions from the Chinese - entry to Tibet and a meeting with one of the most significant followers of the Dalai Lama.

She was most anxious to see Michael Collins because Kitty Kiernan was her mother's first cousin. Problem was, she didn't get an invite.
