Trust fund set up for orphaned children

Rural Resettlement Ireland (RRI) has set up a trust fund for the four young children of Carl and Catherine Doyle

Rural Resettlement Ireland (RRI) has set up a trust fund for the four young children of Carl and Catherine Doyle. The couple moved from Dublin to Ballintubber in 1994 with the aid of RRI. The administrator of RRI, Mr Paul Murphy, said yesterday they had been making excellent progress since moving, having gained full-time employment and purchased their own house.

The fund for the children, who are aged between seven and one, will be administered by trustees to be appointed by RRI, in conjunction with the families of the couple. Those wishing to contribute to the fund can do so directly to Bank of Ireland in Roscommon town - sorting code 90-54-24, account number 33313660 - or though any Bank of Ireland branch.

RRI was set up in 1990 to help reverse rural population decline while relieving cities, particularly Dublin, of overcrowding. It has so far settled 290 families in 19 mainly western counties, with a further 3,500 families on its waiting list.
