Two men have been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 32-year old man in a McDonald's restaurant in Belfast yesterday evening.

The 32-year-old victim, named today as David Finn of Forthriver Parade in northwest Belfast, was sitting drinking coffee with a friend in the restaurant yesterday when a row broke out.

He was stabbed in the chest by a man with an accomplice - the restaurant was packed at the time.

The two men then ran out into the city centre and disappeared down Castle Street not far away. Mr Finn died soon afterwards in hospital.

Several customers who were in the fast food restaurant at the time have been questioned in a bid to trace the two men.

But police said more customers needed to come forward.

There was no known motive for the attack, according to the RUC.

Detective Superintendent Gary Stewart said: "There was some sort of altercation, the result of which a man died.

"The restaurant was very busy at the time and I will appeal to people who were there to come forward."

Detectives have set up a special incident room as part of the investigation.
