A PEDESTRIAN who was killed when a fire engine collided with a taxi in Belfast was named last night as Mr Thomas Thompson (59), from West Circular Road the city. He was one of two people who died in road accidents in the North at the weekend.

Mr Thompson was apparently hit by the fire engine when it collided with the taxi on the West Circular Road late on Saturday night as he was walking home.

In the second fatal accident, Donna Mullan (16), from Sion Mills, Co Tyrone, died when the car in which she was a back seat passenger hit a wall on Barnhill Road in Strabane early yesterday. The driver was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.
