Two drivers have been airlifted to hospital after becoming ill while taking part in a search for a Co Tipperary man who fell overboard from a passenger boat on Lough Derg over the weekend.

The cause of their illness is not yet clear. It is being reported that they might be suffering from decompression sickness, known as 'the bends'.

The men are being taken to University College Hospital in Galway by the Coast Guard helicopter.

A major search for the missing Tipperary man in his early 30s is ongoing. The man fell into the water just before 7pm on Saturday. It is understood the man was not wearing a lifejacket when he fell into the water.
