Two Irish people were among four people who died in a car crash in Liverpool last night.
The four who died were travelling in a Vauxhall Corsa when it collided with a Ford Fiesta at about 7.20 p.m.
The accident happened in Liverpool city centre, at the junction of Great Howard Street and Boundary Street.
The victims were a woman (64) from the Wirral, a woman (67) from Liverpool, a woman (57) from Ireland, and a man (59), also from Ireland.
The driver (71) of the Corsa survived the crash and is being treated in hospital. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
The 20-year-old male driver of the Ford, who is from the Liverpool area, is being treated at the Royal Liverpool Hospital for serious injuries.After colliding with the Ford Fiesta, the Corsa smashed through metal barriers and landed on its roof in a hole created by roadworks.
