Six people have died in three car accidents on Irish roads in the past 24 hours. Five people died last night in two road accidents in Co Kildare and another died in Co Cork.
Two men were killed when their car went into a ditch on the Milltown road near Newbridge. Gardaí have named the dead as 23-year-old Paul Kenny and 22 year-old Nigel Maher. Both men were from Kilmeague in County Kildare.
In a separate accident, two men and a woman died in a two-car collision near Moyvalley, Co Kildare on the main Dublin to Galway road shortly before 9 p.m.
A total of six other people were hurt, four of them seriously, in the accidents.
A 17-year-old man was killed in Ballydehob in west Cork. It is believed he lost control of his car and it hit a fence at around 3.30 a.m.
