Two people were killed in separate road crashes today.

A woman in her 20s died after her car collided with a truck on the N9 near Paulstown, Co Kilkenny shortly after 5pm.

A male passenger in the car received minor injuries and was removed to St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny. The truck driver was uninjured.

Earlier a man has been killed in another road collision in Co Mayo.

The crash occurred between a car and a van at Cuilmore on the main Claremorris to Ballyhaunis road at around 2.30pm. The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman who was also travelling in the car was taken to Mayo General Hospital where her condition is described as stable.
