Two Co Fermanagh men arrested yesterday in connection with bomb attacks linked to the breakaway Continuity Army Council are both members of Republican Sinn Fein.

The men, from Donagh and Newtownbutler, were arrested in raids at their homes and are being questioned about last July's 1,200 lb car bomb attack on Enniskillen's Killyhevlin Hotel, and the failed bombing of the Carrybridge Hotel earlier this month. That bomb was defused by army experts.

Yesterday's arrests are the first in connection with the bomb attacks. Last night, an Independent nationalist councillor, Mr Tony McPhillips, alleged that the men were arrested because of their opposition to the peace process.
