A Garda spokesman said the motive for the attack was not known.

Gardaí at Store Street in Dublin, meanwhile, are investigating the death of a 34-year-old man who was found unconscious behind hoarding on Parnell Street on Friday.

Mr Derek Lynch, originally from Drimnagh, died at the Mater Hospital.
