Two Limerick youths have pleaded guilty to their role in arson attack in the city last year which left two young children seriously injured with severe burns.

John Mitchell (17) of 129 Delmege Park, Moyross, Limerick and Johnathan O'Donoghue of 10 Pineview Gardens, Moyross, Limerick pleaded guilty to intentionally or recklessly causing serious harm to the two children, aged six and four on September 10th last at Pineview Gardens, Moyross, Limerick.

Counsel for the State, John O'Sullivan BL said that there was no bar on the publication of the two boys named now that a plea of guilty had been entered.

The victims of the attack, a young brother and sister aged four and six, suffered severe burns when the car they were sitting in was petrol bombed.

Judge Carroll Moran remanded the two youths in custody and adjourned sentencing to the 17th of April to Limerick Circuit Court. Counsel for Mr O'Donoghue, John Edwards, told the court that a jury will be required in relation to a third person, a 16-year old boy accused of the same offence.
