Two men arrested in connection with the murder yesterday of a Chinese man in a south Belfast flat are still in police custody.

The PSNI have not commented on the claim but said they are following a "definite line of inquiry."

The man, who worked in a Chinese restaurant, was stabbed to death in the apartment at Hampton Drive in the Annadale area in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Translators from the Chinese Welfare Association have been brought in to help police questioning of the two suspects.

A murder investigation was launched soon after a police patrol went to a flat after receiving reports of a disturbance at about 3am yesterday.

Officers found a man with serious stab wounds, who died almost immediately.

Two other injured men found in the flat were taken to hospital. The men, whose injuries were not serious, were later arrested. It is believed all three lived in the flat, which is used to house restaurant staff.

A corner of the street, which is just off the Annadale Embankment, was cordoned off as officers examined the flat, where the man died.

Police, who today issued a fresh appeal for information, said there was no sectarian, paramilitary or racial motive behind the killing.
