Equestrian:Cheshire-based Cork man Billy Twomey secured the Nations' Cup for Ireland at Lummen, Belgium today when recording a third clear round in the battle for first place as Australia's Chris Chugg picked up four faults.
Drawn last of the 13 competing nations, Ireland returned a zero score in round one as did Australia and both were clear again in the second round as was Norway which had earlier amassed eight faults.
As Nations’ Cup newcomer Alex Duffy had picked up 22 faults in the first round with Tampa, he wasn’t asked to jump again but Denis Lynch (Abberuail van het Dingeshof), Shane Breen (Carmena Z) and Twomey all repeated their clears to set up the final round decider which Twomey clinched.
