A DUNGANNON, Co Tyrone, man is to stand trial on sex charges stretching back more than 30 years. The accused man (57), who cannot be named for legal reasons, faces a charge of rape, six charges of indecent assault, and three charges of common assault. All the charges, which relate to the same female, are alleged to have taken place between 1963 and July 1972.
The man was allowed bail when he appeared at Cookstown Magistrates' court yesterday. He was returned for trial at Omagh Crown Court on November 18th. Defence solicitor Mr Aidan Quinn said the accused man would vigorously contest all the charges.
