U2 management has declined to comment on reports that the band's long-awaited new album will be released in November.

A spokeswoman said only that an official announcement concerning the record would be made on the U2 website.

However, a number of US sites - including MTV and Billboard - reported yesterday that the as-yet-untitled album will be released on November 22nd.

It will be preceded by a single, Vertigo, and accompanying video in late September, they added.

Few details have emerged about the record - U2's 11th studio album - despite the fact that an unmixed version of the music was reported stolen in France last month.
