Unions at Guinness are meeting today to decide what action to take in response to the company's decision to press ahead with the closure of its packaging plant in Dundalk, writes Padraig Yeates. If it goes ahead it will mean the loss of 200 jobs. Unless the company expresses a willingness to refer the issue to the Labour Court, or some other acceptable third party, the Joint Union Forum (JUF) is expected to ballot members for industrial action.
