US computer security vendor McAfee is to move its European headquarters from Amsterdam to Ireland.

The company has cited lower corporation taxes as the reason - in The Netherlands, companies pay 34.5 per cent in company tax compared with 12.5 per cent in Ireland.

According to Dutch paper Het Parool, the move could involve up to 81 personnel and Dublin or Cork  are the preferred locations for the new headquarters.

McAfee's Amsterdam staff were told of relocation plans by the company's chief financial officer last week.
