A US plastics firm, Step2, is to invest nearly $2 million in a factory in Co Derry - its first manufacturing plant outside the US. The company will establish a factory in Coleraine to manufacture plastic children's products to sell to companies such as Toys R Us, a spokesman said yesterday.
The $1.9 million investment - backed with almost $600,000 aid from the British government's Industrial Development Board - will create 52 jobs over the next few years in a 23,000 sq ft factory. It is the latest in a series of announcements in the past week which have seen nearly 1,300 jobs going to Northern Ireland.
