A US soldier died of wounds sustained when insurgents attacked his patrol in Baghdad, a US military spokesman has said.
The soldiers came under attack yesterday evening. US forces detained five suspected insurgents during the patrol.
The death brought to at least 652 the number of US soldiers killed in Iraq since the start of last year's invasion.
