AMMAN - US warplanes arrived in Jordan yesterday to help to enforce a western-imposed "no-fly zone" over southern Iraq.

AMMAN - US warplanes arrived in Jordan yesterday to help to enforce a western-imposed "no-fly zone" over southern Iraq.

Jordan had previously refused to allow western air forces use of its bases for sorties over Iraq and diplomats said the change reflected a major improvement in US-Jordanian ties which were damaged by Amman's support for Baghdad during the Gulf conflict.
