The Ulster Unionist Assembly member for South Antrim, Mr Duncan Shipley Dalton, has said that the RUC informed him last week that his name was on a "Real IRA" target list. It is also understood that the name of Mr Roy Beggs appeared on the list. However, it is unclear if this refers to the Ulster Unionist MP, or to his son of the same name, who is a UUP assembly member for East Antrim.
The SDLP assembly member for South Antrim, Mr Donovan McClelland, condemned the threat to Mr Shipley Dalton. "It is absolutely despicable that this group of thugs, who were responsible for the mass murder of innocent men, women and children in Omagh, are now threatening the democratically elected representatives of the community", he said.
