A second television confrontation between Sinn Fein and the Ulster Unionist Party may be about to take place as BBC 1's Question Time prepares to invite members from both parties to participate in one of its weekly programmes. The Northern Secretary, Dr Mo Mowlam, has already agreed to appear on the programme when it is broadcast from Belfast in three weeks, and now leading members from Sinn Fein and the UUP could be joining her.

Unionists have previously refused to appear on broadcasts with Sinn Fein but a recent head-to-head between the UUP's security spokesman, Mr Ken Maginnis, and Sinn Fein's chief negotiator, Mr Martin McGuinness, on BBC 2's Newsnight has created the opportunity for another encounter. Invitations are expected to be sent to both parties by the Question Time producers.
