Dáil na nÓg: The views of some delegates.
Orla Mythen representing Wicklow Comhairle na nÓg
"I go to school in Arklow where the cinema is shut down and is now infested with rats. The only facility is a swimming pool. That's the only thing there is to do. Generally, me and my friends just sit on a wall in the evenings."
Philip McCarron representing Donegal Youth Council
"Basically I would like to see less discriminatory comments made about the Travelling community. That's why I'm here today. I think they should be allowed to live the type of life they want to lead."
Maeve Beirne representing Roscommon Comhairle na nÓg
"There needs to be more facilities for the 14 to 17 age group. In the summer time we need more things to do because the younger kids can go to summer camp, the older teenagers can workwe need more facilities with the back-up of adults we can trust and talk to."
Gearóid Sheehy representing Limerick Comhairle na nÓg
"There is nowhere to go and that's why so many young people are smoking and drinking. I would like to see more youth clubs and drug councilsthis type of council would be somewhere to go for people who are addicts and need help."
Siobhán Symons representing North Tipperary Comhairle na nÓg
"I think a youth forum should be set up in each county where each county could talk about the facilities they needthese need to be based on unstructured activity which would ensure that people with different ideas can enjoy them."
