Waterford 0-20 Kilkenny 0-18: Waterford have won their first National Hurling League title since 1963 after edging past Kilkenny by two points in a thrilling Division One final at Semple Stadium, Thurles.
The two teams served up a tremendous game with the scores ebbing and flowing in both directions.
Waterford dominated possession in the opening spell but Kilkenny's defence was on top of its game and restricted their opponent's scoring. Tommy Walsh and Noel Hickey were in particularly good form.
Most of the early scores came by the way of frees although Kilkenny did have a number of goal scoring opportunities.
On one occasion, goalkeeper Clinton Hennessy was on hand to bravely deny Henry Shefflin a clear goal chance.
Waterford led by two points at the break (0-11 to 0-9) but credit holders Kilkenny who stepped up their game considerably after the restart and edged in front, rattling off five points without reply.
But Waterford were not for folding and Ken McGrath, Michael Walsh and Aidan Kearney were inspirational in driving their side back into contention.
The teams were level at 15, 16, 17 and 18 points apiece before Waterford edged ahead at the death through Eoin Kelly. Then, in injury-time, Seamus Prendergast slotted over the insurance score
