Gardaí in Waterford are investigating a robbery at a building society in the city yesterday.
A lone gunman entered the First Active branch on Barronstrand Street shortly before midday brandishing a handgun, which gardaí believe may have been fake.
The man, described as in his 20s with dark hair, small and of stocky build, demanded money from staff and managed to make off with a few hundred euro.
He was wearing a light-coloured cream or beige jacket with black cuffs with a logo on the left breast, and a dark T-shirt or soccer jersey underneath. He was wearing dark-coloured trousers or tracksuit bottoms, white runners and white latex gloves similar to those used in the medical profession.
Gardaí were quickly on the scene but the culprit had already made his getaway on foot through the busy city centre streets. Sgt Tim Price appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
