Aside from the U2 concerts in Dublin, the main weekend eventis the Festival of Kerry. Heavy traffic can be expected around Tralee, particularly outward bound on Sunday evening.

In Co Limerick, waterworks are taking place on the main Limerick to Foynes road near Askeaton. These will continue for 12 months, according to AA Roadwatch.

In the city, there are roadworks on the Ballinacurra road (N20) and O'Connell Avenue from Lifford Avenue to 200 metres on the city side of Punch's Cross.

On the eastbound carriageway of the Athlone bypass, traffic will be reduced to a single lane for the next six months and diversions will operate.

In Co Leitrim, roadworks are affecting traffic on the Sligo to Enniskillen road (N16), four miles west of Manorhamilton. In Co Meath, Telecom works in Dunshaughlin are causing delays.

In Cork, the Carrigtohil to Carrigane road, north of the entrance to Castleview, will be closed for pipelaying. Maylor Street and Caroline Street will remain closed until the end of September.

There are also pavement works at Summerhill North and roadworks on the Wilton Road. Surveying works are taking place on the South City link road for one week and traffic will be reduced to a single lane in both directions.

Dublin drivers will have to contend with the usual mixture of roadworks, diversions and cablelaying. Roadworks will cause disruption on Merrion Row, Ballin

teer Road, Ballyroan Road in Rathfarnham, Lower Kimmage Road in Harold's Cross, Brighton Road in Foxrock and Beaver Row.

Roundabout construction continues on Milltown Bridge and Maple Road, while Telecom ducting works on the Clonskeagh Road are mainly on the footpath.

North of the city, there are roadworks in connection with the Balbriggan bypass on the N1 at the Five Roads. To facilitate the construction of the Saggart/Rathcoole interchange, a section of Main Street, Rathcoole, is closed.

At night, work is taking place in the city on Sir John Rogerson's Quay, Memorial Bridge, on Nassau Street, Redmonds Hill, North King Street and Church Street.
