With thousands of rugby fans converging on Dublin for tomorrow's Ireland-Scotland match, Iarnrod Eireann has warned that special boarding cards will be needed for many services from Cork, Tralee, Limerick and Galway.

The cards, which cost £3 each, will be needed by all except those on social welfare passes, on the following services tomorrow morning: Cork-Heuston, 7.20 a.m., 7.30 a.m. and 9 a.m.; Tralee-Heuston, 7.30 a.m.; Galway-Connolly, 7.15 a.m. and 7.45 a.m.; and Limerick-Heuston, 8.25 a.m. and 8.35 a.m.

Iarnrod Eireann also notes that the 7.20 from Cork, the 7.15 from Galway and the 8.35 from Limerick are special services, on which social welfare passes are not valid.

Gardai have warned that, because of the match, extra patrols will be in operation in the northeast, on the approach roads to Dublin. These will be focused on speed, dangerous driving and drink-driving offences, and the Garda activity will be mirrored north of the Border by the RUC.
