Dublin motorists who park illegally can expect to have their cars wheel-clamped from today, writes Frank McDonald, Environment Correspondent.

The service is being operated for Dublin Corporation by a private contractor, Central Parking Systems. The fee for having a car "declamped" is £65. The fact that Central Parking Systems will be receiving a flat payment for its contract rather than an arrangement based on a "fee per clamp" has been welcomed by the Automobile Association.
