A woman was killed after she was knocked down by a falling tree in Dublin city centre this evening.
The tree fell during high winds at Waterloo Road, off Baggot Street, shortly after 5pm.
The 45-year-old woman was walking on the road at the time.
She was taken from the scene of the incident to St Vincent's Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Gardaí said the occupants of a Mercedes car which was also hit by the tree were not injured.
The tree blocked Waterloo road which was expected to remain closed until at least 9pm.
