A woman’s body has been discovered on a beach in Co Clare.
It was found at about 8am today on Fanore Strand.
A spokesman said they were attempting to establish if the circumstances surrounding the discovery were suspicious.
Gardaí believe the body may be that of Deirdre McCarthy, a 43-year-old local woman who has not been seen since Sunday night.
Up to 50 local people, gardai and search and rescue teams have been involved in the search for Ms McCarthy, who comes from Ballyvaughan.
Ms McCarthy is described as being 157cm (5ft 2in) tall with short black hair and a medium build.
