World number one Lleyton Hewitt announced today he has split with coach Darren Cahill.

Jason Stoltenberg, the former Wimbledon semi-finalist, will assume his coaching duties ahead of next month’s Australian Open.

It was Cahill who took the decision not to continue his annual agreement with Hewitt which ends this month.

"Obviously, it has been a very rewarding three years for Lleyton and myself," said Cahill. But I am confident with Jason's support, Lleyton will not skip a beat".

US Open and Masters Cup champion Hewitt said: "Darren was one of the few people who really believed in me early on and I am extremely grateful for all of his guidance these past few years".
