Video: base jumpers take off from 370m bridge in China

Dare devils deploy parachutes when they are just 100 metres above the ground

34 base jumpers from 15 countries gathered on Friday in southwest China's Guizhou Province to jump from the 370-meter high Balinghe bridge in Anshun City. The event is as much about the thrill as it is the skill.

Some 34 base jumpers from 15 countries gathered in southwest China over the weekend to jump from the 370m Balinghe bridge in Anshun city.

The competitive event kicked off on Saturday, with jumpers deploying their parachutes when about 100 metres above the ground.

Some participants perform stunts in the air on their way down in order to impress the judges.

This is the second such event on the Balinghe bridge, the height of which and surrounding natural beauty attract international jumpers.
