The woman had alleged he was involved in an unsolved missing person case in Ireland, dating back to the mid 1990s.

The man had been charged with two counts of sexual assault, one count of assault with a weapon and two counts of uttering death threats.

The four-day trial was heard earlier this month and Justice Martel Popescul handed down his verdict of not guilty at a court in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, central Canada on Wednesday.

The man and his wife moved to Canada in 2012 and are now separated, the Star Phoenix reported.

The woman testified that her husband on several occasions filmed their sexual encounters without her consent while she was passed out or asleep and had put makeup on her.

The accused testified that the encounters were consensual, while the complainant testified that she might have been drugged or extremely intoxicated during the incidents.
