US secretary of state John Kerry will travel to Geneva on Sunday for talks with Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif as part of negotiations over Tehran's nuclear programme, according to the US state department.

Mr Kerry will also travel to London a day earlier to meet foreign secretary Philip Hammond to discuss bilateral and global issues, spokeswoman Jen Psaki said.

Iran and six world powers, including the United States, resume talks today to try to narrow remaining gaps in negotiations to end a 12-year standoff with the powers.

Meanwhile, a UN watchdog report says Iran has still not addressed specific issues that could feed suspicions it may have researched an atomic bomb. The confidential report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), says Tehran continues to withhold full co-operation in two areas of an IAEA investigation that it was supposed to have given by August last year.

Western diplomats view such stalling as an indicator of Iran’s unwillingness to co-operate fully until punitive sanctions are lifted in talks with the United States, Russia, China, France, Germany and Britain.

The countries have imposed a June 30th deadline on themselves for a final settlement.
