THE Irish Republican Socialist Party has warned of possible violence if the loyalist prisoner Billy Wright is not moved from an INLA wing in the Maze prison.

Wright and three other loyalists were moved to the Maze from Maghaberry jail on Friday and placed in the punishment wing of H6, the rest of which is occupied by INLA prisoners.

Condemning the move, Mr Willie Gallagher of the IRSP, the INLA's political wing, said: "The transfer of Billy Weight to an INLA Hblock is a serious error of judgment. I hope the relevant authorities realise this and take corrective action immediately. Otherwise they must be prepared to accept whatever chain of events, inside and outside Long Kesh, that they have set in motion".

Wright had been demanding to be moved from Maghaberry since he was sentenced last month to eight years' imprisonment for threatening to kill a woman. The UVF had opposed the transfer because of fears that Wright and his supporters would win support from loyalist hardliners unhappy with the ceasefire.
