Moscow - The Russian President, Mr Yeltsin, sidelined with nervous exhaustion, was simply resting and getting some fresh air at the sanatorium to which he recently withdrew, the Kremlin said yesterday. The spokesman, Mr Dmitry Yakushkin, told Interfax that Mr Yeltsin was not undergoing medical tests, but was taking strolls in the grounds of the Barvikha compound west of Moscow.

Mr Yakushkin did not say how long Mr Yeltsin planned to remain at the sanatorium or when he planned to take the holiday which doctors have prescribed to help him get over his numerous ailments.
