A young Irishman died in his hotel bedroom in Thailand of an apparent overdose of heroin, Dublin City Coroner's Court heard yesterday. Mr Liam Kane (21) of Lower Oriel Street, Dublin, collapsed in his hotel bedroom in Kosime, Thailand, on 24th January, 1997. He was travelling alone and no post-mortem was carried out in Thailand. However, an autopsy carried out by Deputy State Pathologist Dr Marie Therese Cassidy on 3rd February last revealed morphine and amphetamines in the bodily fluids. Dr Cassidy concluded death was due to a heroin overdose and the inquest was adjourned for a report from Interpol on the circumstances of the death.
