DHAKA - The Prime Minister, Mr Khaleda Zia, headed for a landslide win in the Bangladesh general election, with her party taking 129 of the 130 seats declared, election officials said yesterday.

Home ministry officials, monitoring police reports, said the death toll from violence during Thursday's voting rose to 13. But the main opposition Awami League party reported 19 fatalities. With yesterday's official toll of 13, the death toll in two weeks of poll related violence rose to 37.
